The Brentingby Distillery is nestled in the Leicestershire countryside and all of our gin is made and bottled in Melton Mowbray. Brentingby Gin was launched in 2018, founded by South African Bruce Midgely. Bruce formerly worked in the oil and gas industry before teaming up with Tom Nichol (former Master Distillery at Tanqueray) to learn and hone the skills of distilling. Brentingby Gin is name after hamlet near Melton Mowbray in which the distillery is located, and the distillery is home to Bruce’s self-designed still which is named Ayanda – the Zulu word for ‘augment’ or ‘proliferation’. Inspired by the surrounding countryside and Bruce’s South African roots, Brentingby Gin features 8 botanicals including birch which grows locally, in combination with floral hibiscus (as featured on the bottle) and traditional gin botanicals. We respect gin’s true definition, and therefore sought the wisdom of a British gin legend when designing its distinctive taste. Looking after our local area is also very important to us, so we have sustainability built into our production.
Brentingby Gin’s eye-catching bottle is more than matched by the mouth-watering juniper and citrus led spirit inside. It has exceptional quality, depth of flavour and balance. Crystal clear in colour. The bouquet shows zesty orange influences a classic London dry with liquorice and subtle floral aromas. Reassuringly juniper led and citrus forward with coriander and angelica reinforcing this gin’s classic grounding. Subtle floral notes continue on a lingering light black pepper spiced piney juniper and citrus but with generous botanical concentration, good depth of flavour and subtle floral notes on the finish.
